Youth groups are a vital part of life here at FPC. So many important, formative things happen during the teens years, and it can seem like life is changing at such a dizzying pace that one is about to lose their cookies. We also live in a very fast-paced world, so in the midst of all this, teens need a place where they can just be themselves. FPC's junior and senior high youth groups offer that place of refuge. We meet at least twice a month to discuss topics like Christian apologetics, study a book of the Bible exegetically, or tackle a topical study that deals with issues that are relevant to teens i our modern/postmodern/pluralistic/relativistic world of today.
But we make time for fun too! FPC comes well-equipped with ping pong, foosball, air hockey, board games, and a large TV. Our youth also have the opportunity to go to Montreat, Camp Greenwood, and other happenin' places. The youth have also done diaper bag drives for mothers who need a helping hand and unloaded the Feeding America food truck. In the midst of all of our fun, we try to remember that there are those for whom life is hard, and we are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ.
Possible activities for the coming year include barbecues on the beach, visiting a fellow youth group in Ann Arbor, serving a spaghetti supper, and leading another Youth Sunday service. The youth do a great job of leading the service every Mother's Day -- they are so talented!
